Dublin Core Metadata Initiative's DC-Libraries Working Group will be
holding an official meeting in conjunction with the International
Federation of Library Associations (IFLA)'s Annual Conference in Boston,
The meeting will take place as follows:
DATE: Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2001

1. An update on the state of the Dublin Core Metadata Initative, (Stuart
Weibel, Executive Director, DCMI.) Stuart will talk about where the
initiative is going and the importance of application profiles.
2. Discussion of a library application profile for use with Dublin Core
metadata. This document, an effort of a subgroup of the DC-Libraries
Working Group will be made available shortly (and announced on various
mailing lists). The profile includes specifications for use of Dublin Core
metadata in library applications such as required elements, endorsed DC
elements and qualifiers, additional elements and qualifiers not approved
by DCMI but needed for library applications, recommended encoding
schemes/controlled vocabulary with Dublin Core elements, and best practice
